Program and Schedule The Danville Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, offers Sunday School classes during the school year, for Pre-School to High School age children and youth. The Sunday School program is held at 10 AM weekly. Children participate in worship for the first 15 minutes of worship and then recess to their classes.
Education Mission It is the mission of the Danville Congregational Church Sunday School Program to provide a safe setting where each individual can grow in the Christian Faith. Students will learn in an environment in which they are actively engaged and motivated to build relationships with other members of the congregation, Jesus Christ and with God. All students will be treated as equals and encouraged to grow socially, emotionally and spiritually.
The Christian Education Committee also strives to create an environment that promotes "meaningful engagement among all generations of the congregation and in all aspects of ministry," as outlined in the DCC Redevelopment Goals (#4, adopted 11/19/2008)
Summer Sundays in Danville The Christian Education Committee of the Danville Congregational Church will once again be presenting a Summer Sunday Activity Program for children each Sunday morning. The schedule for 2012 is currently being developed. Please check back soon!
The first day of Sunday School will be held on Sunday, September 9!!!
7-12 Grade Sunday School Program
Come together to explore the connections between one’s faith and ones daily life. How is our Sunday morning service relegant to our lives, our homes, our community, and our world? How does one construct a meaningful and relevant faith? This facilitated group will use a youth directed approach to explore the question: Where does God go after the Sunday morning service is over? We meet the first 3 Sundays of each month.
Worship Hour Childcare Program
It is the mission of the Danville Congregational Church to offer a safe environment for children of the congregation. Childcare is available during worship for children ages birth to 3, whose family is attending worship. It is located downstairs in the nursery. Childcare providers are trained and certified in CPR and First Aid and able to provide the finest care for children and engage them in activities and relationships with others. Parents are welcome to help their children adapt to our nursery and if they need to stay downstairs during worship, hearing devices (to listen to the service) are available in the vestibule.
Curriculum
Danville Congregational Church uses "Power Express" Sunday School curriculum, an exciting resource to help youth and their leaders engage the Bible, explore the church and world, and experience faith in ever-deepening ways. This curriculum delves deeply into a variety of seasonal and discipleship themes, selected by our own Christian Education Committee. The current unit is exploring the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
